My Story

The Journey

When I first started my journey of Photography, I never expected to be gripped by the pursuit of large beautiful scenes. I never thought I would push my mind and body to limits I have not pushed before, for maybe just a moment that might last a couple seconds, like a sunset. But I have, and I will continue to do so because I am truly addicted to the never-ending chase of exploration.

Exploration

It took me a few years of exploration to truly find what kind of photography I liked. I eventually fell in love with adventure photography. Usually my body is in pain after a long hike, as I carry my camera gear plus supplies up mountains for hours, and because I love it and I would not change it either. Adventure photography has caused me to feel pain that I have never felt before.

Pain

When I first started, I never expected to go all the places that I have. I did not think I would have done everything that I have. Adventure photography is painful, but that is what separates you from the people just doing it for likes. I get blisters all over my feet. I get lower back pain from the weight of the backpack. Plus, my knees sometimes feel like they are going to break. But I would not change it for the world; I do not make excuses anymore.

Excuses

There aren’t any excuses anymore for why I’m not out in the world. I used to fall into the trap that it is too hot outside or too cold or too windy, but in all honesty, that is what makes you a better photographer- doing the things other people might not want to do. And because of it, I have made memories I will never forget.

Memories

The biggest thing I have learned throughout this crazy journey is that it was never about the location, but the memories you made with the people you are with. Because at the end of the day, when those likes and congrats fade away, when everyone else forgets about that small 4x5 picture, you won’t forget those memories you made with the people you care about the most.
